Counselling and Wellbeing Service

I am an Adult Person-centred therapist with a child and young person’s integrative therapy CPCAB qualification and experience. I decided to study these two qualifications simultaneously because I believe understanding the child is key to understanding the adult and vice a versa. My career has taught me how important it is to experience everyone as an individual, regardless of their age. We all share one similarity and that is that we are unique. Broadening the depth of my studies and continuing professional development helps do that. Below you will find a brief summary of my training..

Currently only taking on Adult Clients

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a way of working with emotional and situational difficulties which involves the exploration of your thoughts and feelings relating to the past, present and future. Counselling can help you address the challenges you experience and enhance your life management skills.

I can help you with

It’s not always easy to move forward when we face adversities in life and we’re not always immediately aware of the full effects difficult experiences may have had on us. Taking the first step towards counselling can be difficult, but talking to a Counsellor can help.

Abuse Anger Management Anxiety Bereavement Bullying Changes to Health Depression Domestic Abuse Family Breakdown Gender Identity Loneliness Loss Low Self-esteem Past Trauma Relationship Breakdown Self-harm Stress Suicidal Ideation

Life is a journey. It is like a river that we are travelling and it can be joyous, beautiful, shallow with rays of light, calm, still, shrouded in mist, dark, deep, turbulent and tumultuous with crashing waterfalls. This is the journey of our lives.

From when we are born that journey is shaped by innate characteristics we have. Then our lives are shaped as babies, children, young adults and adults by things outside ourselves. During this journey we learn and adapt and change.

Sometimes adapting and moving forward is a challenge and that is where therapy can ease that journey forward.

You can find a retreat with me. A safe and confidential space to share and explore what is happening. I will support you exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.

You will find a safe and confidential space with me to share your issues and concerns. I will support you exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.

We will establish trust in that safe space to enable you to be open and honest and say how you’re really feeling. To discuss sensitive issues.

As your counsellor I will not give you my opinions or advice. I will help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.

In your first session we will discuss a contract that will outline my responsibilities as a counsellor. We consider if you would like one session or how many sessions you may like and your financial position. In this session I can begin to understand what is going on for you and help you to identify what it is you would like to gain from the process. This will help you decide if you are happy to proceed with counselling. In sessions we will review what is happening and this will enable you to give me honest feedback on how you feel about your therapy and how we are working together.

It is important to understand that counselling can sometimes be challenging and that there are times when you may feel tired after a session and perhaps a little worse overall before you begin to feel better. It is important then to look after yourself, to give yourself time. If you can after a session, I would suggest you take some time to reflect on the session and to do some self-care, perhaps go for a walk, take a bath, listen to some music, whatever it is that feels right for you.

Counselling is also how I make my living. Having said that Counselling is my vocation and I am passionate about making it accessible. So, if you have any financial concerns talk to me about it and I will do my best to support you. There may even be other places I can signpost you to for support.

I am polyamory aware.

Conscious uncoupling aware.

Work with non-recent sexual abuse and childhood trauma.

Thank you Carole Hart

Thank you for all you have done for me over the weeks.  Helping me think in a different way, and change things that where hurting me, to being able to cope within.
