About Counselling
I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space where you can bring any concerns you want to explore. The first or initial session is an opportunity for you to outline your concerns and for both of us to explore whether the experience and approach I offer suits you and the issues you bring. There is no obligation to commit to anything until you decide you wish to do so. I offer long-term counselling and time-limited counselling as well as one-off sessions.
It may be that you are trapped in excessive worrying or anxiety about your personal life, your future, work or health.
You may feel depressed and hopeless, or lack energy and drive for no apparent reason.
You may not feel in control of your moods, feel overwhelmed, or feel angry with yourself and others some or all of the time.
You may experience difficulties in adjusting after a significant loss or life change.
And, you may feel that you do not wish to talk to friends or family about your problems.
These are just a few examples why someone may seek help. I offer you a professional space to talk in confidence with the necessary emotional support to facilitate exploration of deeper, underlying issues. Developing an understanding of whatever keeps you stuck in unwanted states will help you make lasting changes for the better.
Single Session or Short-term Counselling
Single session or Short-term Counselling is helpful when you experience a sudden crisis, need to make a decision that you find difficult or something has unsettled you and you would like to find out why and what to do about it. A time-limited, solution focused counselling arrangement for an agreed number of sessions would help you to address the specific issue. Most people find anything from a few weeks to several months sufficient to help them move forward.
Open-ended or Long-term Counselling
Can be Open-ended or Long-term. It is more supportive and needed if you find it hard to resolve long-standing concerns, or feel stuck in persistent or recurring states of negative emotion.

We think we listen, but rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind,
is one of the most potent forces for change that I know. Carl Rogers
I am an Adult Person-centred therapist with a child and young person’s integrative therapy CPCAB qualification and experience. I decided to study these two qualifications simultaneously because I believe understanding the child is key to understanding the adult and vice a versa.
